The group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Arizona Institute of Footcare Physicians at 1620 S. After the initial meeting, the group will be meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at the same time and place. Jackie Forster will be the lead facilitator for the group. The purpose of the group is to encourage people to share their experiences with type 1 and type 2 diabetes with others and to share some of the motivational and measurement tools they have used to stay focused on self-management of diabetes. Among topics that will be discussed over the next few months are: *Surviving the holidays: food tips and diabetic-safe recipes that are good and good for you! *Why accountability and a support system are vital to successfully managing diabetes *The importance of a good diabetic education *Setting goals and measuring results *How and why to self-test with a meter *How to get real help for weight loss
Who should attend:
*Those who have been diagnosed with diabetes or a pre-diabetic condition *Family members or friends who are part of a diabetes support system
Please note: This support group is open to all who are interested in attending, whether they are patients of Dr. Marcantel or not. Jackie Forster is not employed or compensated by Dr. Marcantel and this group is offered as a courtesy to those who wish to support one another regarding diabetes.
