Dr. Marcantel's 6
Week Natural Weight Loss Starter Program is different in several ways from
most other programs you may have investigated or tried. First, it is a
physician-supervised plan to make sure your overall health concerns are taken
into account. Second, this is NOT a group meeting. Each of your sessions
is a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Marcantel to review your progress in the
program and make adjustments as needed. Also, there is no product line of
special foods for you to buy; everything is available at your local grocery
stores so you can continue for the rest of your life with the healthy eating
habits you develop. Most importantly, perhaps, is that you and Dr. Marcantel
will work together to tailor a program specifically for you that will
best meet your needs.
On our recipes
pages you'll find some quick and easy meals and snacks that are both good
and good for you. Dr. Marcantel has created many of these recipes
herself after spending countless hours exploring the local grocery stores
and reading the labels of hundreds of products to find the best foods available. These are just a start--there will be plenty more to
come. One of our most-visited areas on the site!
Proper nutrition is the key to good health. Read Dr. Marcantel's article Good
Nutrition: Your Food Is Your Medicine to better understand how
specific foods can affect your body in specific ways.
Read the article Food
Fact and Fiction and find the answers to some of life's most difficult
questions:"Are all fats bad for me?" "Will late-night snacks
really make me gain weight?" "Is a glass of wine actually good for my
heart?" "Should I avoid all carbohydrates?" and more.
One great source of fiber and nutrition is ground (milled) flaxseed. I highly recommend that all my patients add this to their diet as a way to balance blood sugars and reduce cholesterol. Read about this great food in the article The Health Benefits of Flaxseed.
Vitamins
can be an important complement to a good overall weight loss or dietary plan, but it is important
to understand that there is no one "magic potion in a bottle" that can
fit every person's dietary needs. Read Dr. Marcantel's comments about how
vitamins can help and, potentially, harm you in the article Vitamins
and You.
Fad
Diets: Are They Nutritionally Sound? In this article Dr. Marcantel
takes a look at The New Beverly Hills Diet, The New Cabbage Soup Diet, The
One-Day Super Diet, and the Three-Hour Diet and gives you the "skinny"
on how good for you they really are.
Stevia:
The Natural Sweetener Dr. Marcantel recommends stevia to her patients.
Stevia is an herb with very potent sweetening power that is natural in its
biochemical structure and contains no artificial ingredients. It won't cause a
rise in blood sugars and is calorie-free. Learn more here.
Are You Overdosing on Food Supplements? If some nutritional supplements or vitamins are good for you, then a lot must be really good for you, right? Not necessarily. Read this article to find out why you may be wasting your money on too many supplements, and how you may be jeopardizing your health, too.
If you
are overweight there is a good chance that you are at risk of developing type
2 diabetes. Dr. Marcantel specializes in working with diabetic patients.
