Welcome to today’s video on the 6th chakra!
Have you ever found yourself saying, “I should have gone with my gut instincts on that”? Or have you ever had a great idea that just seemed to come out of nowhere?
When your sixth chakra is open and the energy is flowing, you’re connected to a source of knowledge and wisdom that’s well beyond what you THINK you know.
The sixth chakra is also called the “brow” or “3rd eye” chakra .The spiritual truth associated with the sixth chakra is, “I am divine wisdom and knowledge.” This chakra houses the intellect, imagination, intuition, inspiration, insight, and visualization.
The color that supports us to balance our 6th chakra is INDIGO BLUE. When I wear this color it reminds me to trust in my divine intuition and inspiration.
When our 6th chakra is OPEN, we have mental clarity and trust our intuition. We may have flashes of insight – such as pictures or even little videos playing in our minds – that help us better understand situations.
As a personal example, often when a person is telling me their story or giving me their medical history I may see pictures or get a sudden analogy that I present to them and it serves them in a supportive way.
Recently when someone was describing her symptoms to me I said, “I see a picture of someone in quicksand.” She said, “That’s exactly how I feel! Like I’m just stuck and struggling and can’t make any progress in my life!” That analogy helped both of us to hone in on some energy work she could do to help with her emotional well being AND her physical symptoms.
If we truly trust our intuition, our decisions come from a place of peace. We believe that actions are inspired and will work out for our ultimate good. Compare that to taking action from a place of fear, where we overthink and second-guess every decision.
Powerful affirmations we can use to support the flow of energy in the 6th chakra are:
“I trust in my divine intuition. I see myself and others through my divine eyes of love. Whatever I need at any given moment is revealed to me intuitively.”
When we have a CLOSED 6th chakra, we feel disconnected from our intuition. We question our decisions and can’t trust our internal guidance. We feel lost when it comes to our soul’s purpose. Instead of having a positive outlook, we imagine that things won’t work out in the future.
When the energy in the sixth chakra isn’t flowing properly we may become closed to new ideas. We tend to overanalyze and overthink things. We operate from a place of fear. We may become uncomfortable with self-reflection.
The location of the 6th chakra is between the eyebrows. Corresponding physical body parts include the brain and the sense organs – the eyes, ears, and nose. It also encompasses the nervous system, including the pituitary and pineal glands.
Possible associated physical conditions can include visual and learning impairments, brain tumors, strokes, seizures, and headaches.
Now it’s time for our Children of the Chakras exercise:
By now your inner child knows that you provide a safe and loving space to allow her to honestly express her feelings. It might feel a little strange to think of your inner child as someone separate from your adult self. But of course, she’s not.
What we’re talking about is an aspect of yourself where you’ve suppressed your TRUE feelings while presenting a different persona to the world. When I say, “Allow your child of the chakra to come into the light,” I’m inviting you to have an honest and compassionate conversation with yourself.
Now for some tips and tools to help get that dense energy flowing.
Essential oils you can use to help balance the 6th chakra are tulsi, frankincense, and myrrh. Try incorporating these into your meditation time to nurture your senses. Light a candle and watch the dancing flame to nurture your sense of sight.
And speaking of meditation, this is a good time to release your imagination. Visualize your day and imagine how it will unfold as you trust your intuition and receive divine inspiration to guide you.
One spiritual teacher put it this way: No one knows what the future holds. When we think about the future, we often imagine the BAD things that could happen to us. Why not choose to imagine, instead, all the GOOD that’s going to happen?
Another very good tool for allowing your intuition to flow is asking questions aloud. Start with, “What would it take to find a solution to ? And state your problem. An example might be, “What would it take to find a job I like?” or “What would it take to find a loving life partner?”
Listen for the response. You may get the answer immediately or at a later time. Trust that answer.
Now that we’ve touched on 6 of the 7 chakras, you’re probably noticing that there’s overlap in many of the ideas and spiritual truths associated with them. Even though it’s convenient to try to label each chakra as a separate entity, human beings are incredibly complex creatures.
In a very real way, every part of us affects every other part of us. All the chakras are related to each other. I can say, “I TRUST (that’s confidence emanating from the 3rd chakra) my INTUITION (emanating from the 6th chakra).
Energy flows through pathways in our body. Our goal is not so much to concentrate on a single chakra as it is to have energy flowing freely throughout the body.
I’ll see you next time as we explore our final chakra that is our true connection to the Divine.
